Welcome Crystal!

The National Council is very pleased to welcome our new National Office Administrator, Crystal Murgatroyd.

Crystal is passionate about enriching the lives of families through the power and the pleasure of songs, rhymes and stories. She is the Family Outreach and Parent-Child Mother Goose Program Coordinator for the Kamloops Community YMCA/YWCA. Crystal coordinates over 70 Mother Goose groups each year across Kamloops, BC and surrounding region, as well as virtually. She works hard to ensure that Parent-Child Mother Goose groups are accessible to all families in her community, and is the force behind the development of a virtual platform.

Crystal is a trained P-CMG facilitator, and has a background in psychology, infant and child development, and supporting children with diverse needs. Her goal is to welcome thousands of people each year to fall in love with singing, rhyming, storytelling, and learning together. Crystal’s role has now expanded to include National Office Administrator, and she looks forward to building connections with facilitators, families, and passionate Parent-Child Mother Goose leaders on a national level.

We are excited to begin working with Crystal, who brings such talent and enthusiasm for Mother Goose to this new role. We would also like to bid a fond farewell to Catherine Taylor, who is retiring after many years of wonderful work with us. Good luck in your new adventures, Catherine!

Welcome in 2021 by supporting PCMG

2020 has been a year that will live on in history. The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged all of us in ways we have never experienced before. As I write this, the year is (thankfully!) almost behind us, but many of the challenges will remain. There is still a long road ahead, and your support for Parent-Child Mother Goose is needed now more than ever.

Over the past year, families across Canada have faced lockdowns, school closures, quarantines, job losses, isolation, illness – it has been a perfect storm of emergencies and stressors.

Through it all, despite community agencies being forced to close their doors, Parent-Child Mother Goose teachers have done everything they can to support families, providing them with much-needed social connection and opportunities for strengthening the parent-child relationship through a shared enjoyment of songs and rhymes.

The pandemic has shown everyone that programs like Parent-Child Mother Goose aren’t “nice to have’s”—they’re essential to public health and community well-being. But to keep PCMGP healthy and growing in Canada we need your help, even once we’re on the other side of this pandemic. Advocacy, oversight, and strong leadership in the year ahead will be critical to keeping Parent-Child Mother Goose active in our communities and reaching our families.

Help us continue this important work in 2021. Your gift will help us ensure more families in communities across Canada have access to a Parent-Child Mother Goose Program, and that program teachers receive the support, information, and advocacy that they need to continue delivering this essential program.

Wishing you health and happiness in the year ahead!

Sincerely,

Marilee Peters
Chair, National Parent-Child Mother Goose Program
